I, Brad Woods, am a self-taught photographer, and proud Native American - Chickasaw Artist. I have gathered what I know from where ever and who ever I can, and I'll never stop learning the art. My interest in photography began around the age of 14 and was inspired from traveling across the United States with my parents. Seeing the diversity of the geology, flora and fauna the country has to offer, I wanted to capture this beauty I saw in the world and share it the way I perceive it.
I grew up in a rural area around Sulphur, Oklahoma near the Lake of the Arbuckles. As a young boy I had a great love for nature and the outdoors lifestyle. I spent much of my time exploring the woods and looking for critters. Still to this day my passion for the outdoors continues as strong now as it was then. I’m a member of the Professional Photographers of Oklahoma and also The North American Nature Photographers Association.
I attended East Central University received a B.S. in Biology focusing on Wildlife Ecology. Throughout college I volunteered many hours helping with The Nature Conservancy and developing a good standing relationship. This has helped me to become a resident photographer for several preserves throughout southern Oklahoma. Specifically I has picked up interest in photographing sections of the Blue River in hopes of helping to protect and preserve it. Additionally, I've spent several years as an active member with the Arbuckle Karst Conservancy where I helped study and protect the Arbuckle Simpson Aquifer and the cave/karst features associated with it.
Hopefully with my photography I can help inspire people to have a strong connection to the extremely diverse land we call Oklahoma. A connection that will bring us closer to nature and help with conservation efforts statewide.
